Siny is a screen recorder for Mac. Your recordings are made, edited and exported on your Mac and never leave it unless you use a feature that says otherwise below. This page explains what little we do collect, why, and who else gets to see it.
“Siny”, “we” and “us” mean the people who make the app. Questions go to [email protected].
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address and, if you set one, your password. We store the password only as a one-way hash, so we can’t read it.
- How you sign in. If you use Google, X or Telegram, we keep the ID that service gives your account, and from Google also your email address. We don’t store your name, profile photo, contacts or posts.
- Sessions. Tokens that keep you signed in, stored hashed, and short-lived links for confirming your email or resetting your password.
- Your plan. Which plan you’re on and until when.
- Custom voices. If you design a voice, its name and the description you typed.
What stays on your Mac
Recordings, edits, projects, exports and settings live on your Mac. We don’t upload them, and there is no analytics or tracking inside the app.
Siny can work with Claude Code, which you install and sign in to yourself. It runs on your Mac and reads recordings only when you ask it to. What Claude Code sends to Anthropic is covered by your agreement with Anthropic, not by this policy.
AI features
Captions, voiceover and voice design are done by ElevenLabs. When you use them, our server passes the needed piece to ElevenLabs and hands the result back to the app:
- for captions, the recording’s audio;
- for voiceover, the text to be spoken;
- for voice design, your description of the voice.
We don’t keep that audio or text on our servers once the request is done. ElevenLabs handles it under its own terms. If you never use these features, nothing from your recordings is sent anywhere.
Why we use it
To run your account, sign you in, send the emails you ask for (confirmations and password resets), provide the AI features, stop abuse and keep the service secure. We rely on our contract with you for most of this, and on our legitimate interest in keeping Siny safe for the rest. We don’t sell your data, show you ads or use it to train AI models.
Who else processes it
- DigitalOcean hosts our server, database and downloads in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Resend sends our emails from servers in Ireland.
- ElevenLabs provides the AI features described above.
- Google, X and Telegram confirm who you are, only if you choose to sign in with them.
Some of these companies may process data outside the EU. Where they do, they rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
This website and updates
siny.me sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It loads its font from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when the page opens. The app checks download.siny.me for updates, which means our hosting provider sees your IP address and app version.
Like any web service, our server briefly sees your IP address to limit requests and block abuse. We don’t store it with your account.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. Unconfirmed sign-ups and expired sign-in links are removed automatically. When you delete your account, your data is gone from the live database right away and from our backups within 7 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it, and take it elsewhere. Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we’ll reply within 30 days. To delete your account, just write “Delete my account”. If you’re in the EU or UK and think we got something wrong, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Siny isn’t meant for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. If a change matters for how your data is used, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
